Year 1 - Blwyddyn 1

Croeso / Welcome to Year 1 / Blwyddyn 1
Mr Davies and Mrs Morgan would like to give a warm welcome to you and your child to Blwyddyn 1 - the Lovely Leeks class! We are a hardworking and committed team who work together to support every pupil to try their best and enjoy their learning. In Year 1, we continue to build on the strong foundations from Reception, offering exciting, hands-on, and engaging activities to help learners grow in confidence and develop greater independence.
We want every child to enjoy their busy day in Year 1 and leave school with a smile on their face.

Class Timings
Our Year 1 day starts at 9:00am and finishes at 3:15pm.
Uniform
Please make sure that all your child's belongings — including coats, jumpers/cardigans, and bags — are clearly labelled with their name. A spare set of clothes in your child’s bag is helpful just in case of accidents.
Snack
Pupils will be encouraged to try different fruits from our Tŷ Bwyd snack area. You are also welcome to provide a healthy snack for your child, clearly labelled. Free milk is available daily. Please ensure your child brings a water bottle so they can stay hydrated throughout the day.
Seren a Sbarc’s Adventure (Welsh Home Link Book)
Each Friday, our Welsh Star of the Week will take Seren home. Please help your child complete a page in the book over the weekend. Seren should be returned by Thursday, ready for the next pupil to take her on a new adventure.
Reading Eggs & Hwb
All pupils in Year 1 have access to Reading Eggs, an engaging online platform that supports the development of reading skills both in school and at home. Login details will be provided at the start of the year. If you require a new password, please contact the class teacher.
In addition, all pupils will receive their Hwb login details, which provide access to a wide range of digital learning tools. This includes Google for Education and Microsoft Office programmes such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. These platforms support learning across the curriculum and help to build vital digital competence skills.
Diolch yn fawr / Thank you,
Mr M. Davies & Mrs N. Morgan
